Amateur Recommendation Hour: Palette
Today’s recommendation is a very personal work that I’d think would resonate with a lot of people but unfortunately that silly language barrier gets in the way.
Palette by IU is a story of her own self-actualization framed in a similar way to the final chapters of a bildungsroman. In particular an appreciation for all of the work that she has put into her career at various points, viewing the time and energy she put in as the colors in what she hopes she can view as a painting when she decides to step away.
My interpretations of what she is trying to convey is one of empathy and similarity with the listener. Despite our varied lives, journeys, and experiences, there is a certain oneness of the human experience. Similar shapes drawn in many different ways to make our own unique experiences.
Another meaningful album that goes under appreciated in the perpetual arms race that is Korean pop music (it ain’t a scene...)
